It is a small island in front of Clifton, completely surrounded by the coral reef. The white beach, the presence of iguanas and tropical birds give the sensation to the lucky visitor of the island, to be in a beautiful Eden.
There is a big resort, therefore you cannot penetrate in the interior, but only stop on the beach.
Here you can find the atelier of painter Patrick Chevallier, specialized in submarine landscapes painted with the oil technique.
A small village that houses a natural tourist resort of high profile, and therefore the place is now a destination of tourist groups or pleasure boaters on holiday on rented catamarans in the Grenadines and Antilles, where they can find here, the necessary assistance. The beach is inviting and offers a beautiful panorama. Fort Hill rises at the rear, a fort built by the French.
After having being colonized by the English and Scottish in the 17th and 19th century, this impracticable and scarcely productive territory was abandoned and exploited only by a few fishermen until its population decreased considerably. The island was not a tourist destination for a long time and was totally forgotten by the operators of the hotel sector. Only in the 1960s, an entrepreneur from Martinique built a hotel, an airport and founded the Anchorage Yacht Club that was then managed by an Austrian company able to valorise the resources of the territory, in a wise way.
It is the mooring point for any cruise on a rented sailing boat in the Grenadines: here you can stock up with water, fuel and buy food and beverages in the markets on land.
It is located in the Southern area and extends between Taffia Fill and Friendship Hill. The entire bay is bordered by the reef: the waters are particularly clear, of very intense turquoise colour.
It is located on the windward coast, in the eastern part of the island, and utmost attention must be paid to the weather conditions and long coral reef. It is difficult to access by pleasure boaters,
it offers peace and tranquillity.
It is located in the southern area, but access is not always easy due to the sea conditions; attention must be paid to the presence of the keys of Dove Cay. The sought-for hotel complex of the Canouan Beach Hotel boasts elegant bungalows, but a kind welcoming is reserved also to who decides to stay just for a few hours.
The bay is big and should be accessed during the day due to the presence of rocks, especially in the North-western part. An elegant resort in neo-colonial style faces the beach, but the bar and the club for diving and various underwater activities are available to tourists. In the village, there are few small grocery stores and restaurants that offer specialties of the local cuisine. The beach is extremely inviting thanks to its white sand.
The inlet is very small and shallow. Mooring is suggested only during the day. Excellent for snorkelling.
It is located north of the island and mooring can take place only during the day and it is reserved to small boats. This is a scarcely frequented beach, but rich of coral reefs and white sand. At the back, there is the golf course.
One of the greenest islands because it was able to preserve the characteristics of a mainly wild territory, despite the interest of some entrepreneurs in the last decade. The hotels were built in Creole style. The island boasts a golf course with 18 holes, looking over the Ocean and reserved to a wealthy clientele.
The only inhabited centre is Charlestown. It is halfway of many itineraries for cruises in sailing boats in the Caribbean and Grenadines, therefore, you will easily pass by here onboard of your rented catamaran during your holidays in the Antilles.
