Discovered by Christopher Columbus, it bears the name from the pure clouds that surround the peak of the volcano Nevis Peak (985 mt).

It was occupied almost exclusively by English (Nelson married a young widow owner of the plantation of Montpellier) and it was exploited a long time for the extensive sugarcane cultivation.

Abandoned this cultivation and became independent, this green volcanic island rich in beaches shaded by palms, opened itself to an elite tourism recovering and restoring with fine taste the ancient colonial houses and maintaining the undoubted old charm.
