Ste Lucia |
Really close to Martinica, for long time the island was disputed between French and English and for this reason today are still spoken both languages english and french. The "patois"is present in the language of Creoles and in the toponymy can still be found french words. The island has an international airport near thecity of Vieux Fort, in the Southside of the country.
Today the traditional cultivation of tropical fruits is joined by an expanding tourism, thanks to the numerous natural reserves which defend the sea and land animals, the luxuriant woods and the sea bed rich of esteemed coral. Another important attraction are the volcanic peaks, named Deux Pitons, or the Sulphur Springs, the wide falls, or the beautiful bays like Marigot Bay or the numerous inlets along the coasts framed by beaches with fine, impalpable grey sand on which face the traditional fishermen villages or the most wanted and elegant tourist structures |
